LECTURES

Lectures 1 to 4 completed in TASK 1- EXERCISE 1 AND 2

INSTRUCTION

Task 2A: Key Artwork

For Task 2A we need to create a key artwork that serves as both a logo and artwork, using our name or initials. This key artwork will be used in Task 2B for various collateral.

- an elegant solution
- well-balanced and composed
- not complicated or confusing that leads to a functional and communicable key artwork

1. Ideation and sketches

Inspiration sourced from Pinterest & Google

Sketches 1 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

Sketches 2 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

I decided to use the username 'TONG' or "TONGEN", which represents my English name 'TAI TONG EN'.

2. Digitalisation

In order to give my font a unique appearance, I intended the typeface to be made entirely of diamonds while I was creating it. I also used the fact that I adore anything formed of rhombus forms as inspiration to finish my font design.

Digitalize attempt 1 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

Digitalize attempt 2 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

Digitalize attempt 3 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

When I digitally experimented with 1, 2, and 3,  I stuck to the original concept, which called for the sauce typeface to have a diamond-shaped pattern.

Digitalize attempt 4 (Week 4: 20/09/2023)

I wanted to attempt a charming and livelier style when I explored 4 digitally, so I tried adding some patterns to make my font appear more eye-catching. In the same way that I utilized my mouth's opening motion to create G.

In week 5, Mr. Vinod allowed us to transfer our artwork onto a T-shirt using the template he provided and then print it out in class. For my work, Mr. Vinod gave me feedback that I needed to reduce the space between the letters.

Task 2B: Collateral

The main artwork must be animated, an Instagram account must be made, and collateral branding centered on the key artwork must be developed for Task 2B. The product must be the result of extensive study and successfully communicate the intended message and tone set by the primary artwork, both visually and textually.

Mr. Vinod advised that we utilise Colour Hunt to select the colour scheme for our project.

After trying different color palettes, I chose the first one because the pink color under the navy blue will be attractive and look suitable for my products. I believe the overall outcome will better match what I intend to achieve, a minimalist look that's not boring.

REFLECTION

Experiences
This task sparked a lot of interest in me and my creativity. We were able to create our own logos and a variety of glyphs using our own names. In order for the items and the typefaces we developed to blend into one, we also looked for a selection of complementary products. Finding appropriate items turned out to be a significant difficulty for us because we needed to make the brand invisible. In order to make the logo seem suitable and inconspicuous, I learnt from this how to create typefaces, colour schemes, and logo pairings.

Observations
I discovered that colour matching is crucial. A successful colour scheme can encourage numerous customers to purchase your goods. In this market, matching items of the same colour is no longer a common practise. The opposing colour, on the other hand, is more striking.

Findings
I learned that while developing a logo, you must take into account several things that we typically overlook, in addition to colour matching, font coordination, and font size. The bigger picture may be impacted by these minute nuances.

FEEDBACK

Week 4
General Feedback :
The words' shapes are not same, and also unbalanced. Make sure the shape is same and balanced.

Week 5
General Feedback :
I must explain my reasoning for selecting this font's form and design. Is there a deeper significance to it? Rather than merely expressing "I like it" or "It looks good."

Week 6
General Feedback :
The wordmark cannot be the different types like I cut some specific words that will not be my original wordmark and be another new wordmark.

Week 7
General Feedback :
The layout can be more interesting and attractive.
