Prior to working on this module, I frequently created basic artworks that were visually uninteresting and lacked depth. But by immersing myself in design principles, I've learned so much about the subtleties of layout design and how even small changes can have a significant impact on the final product's look. Working with Mr. Charles has been crucial to my path since his advice and criticism have continuously inspired me and helped me reach new creative heights. As I went more into the creative pro...

14.3.2024 -28.3.2024 /Week 6 - Week 8  Tai Tong En/ 0363164 Design Principles / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 3 INSTRUCTIONS For Task 3, we need to produce a work of design inspired by or in reaction to the one we analyzed. In Task 3, we need to do: 1. Find some visual references (cite the sources) that inspire your own ideas. 2. Create 3-5 sketches (manual/digital) of your own ideas. 3. Produce a final design in A4 size, JPEG format. 4. Write a rationale, consisting of about 150-200 words, explaining and defending the decisions made in your design. This should include the meaning and purpose of the design, as well as the design principles evident within it.   22.2.2024 -7.3.2024 /Week 3-Week 5 Tai Tong En/ 0363164 Design Principles / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 2 INSTRUCTIONS LECTURE RECAP: Topic 6: Visual Analysis VISUAL ANALYSIS Is a method of understanding design that focuses on the visual elements and principles. In its strictest definition - a description and explanation of visual structure for its own sake. Visual analysis is a critical part of visual literacy, a skill that helps people read and critically interpret images, whether in a museum, on social media, in entertainment, advertising, or the news. HOW DOES VISUAL ANALYSIS WORK? Phase 1: Observation Phase 2: Analysis Phase 3: Interpretation PHASE 1: OBSERVATION Observation involves investigating the design's visual components closely and focusing on providing a thorough and accurate description of them in one's own language. It is imperative to approach the design devoid of any preconceived notions or biases. This stage promotes careful thought...

5.2.2024 -20.2.2024 /Week 1-Week 3 Tai Tong En/ 0363164 Design Principles / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 1 LECTURES Introduction: Elements & Principles of Design 1. Point - A point or dot is the simplest element of design, used as repetitive mark forms a line. - As the point moves in space, other two- and three-dimensional figures and forms are created. 2. Line - Lines can be active or static, aggressive or passive, sensual or mechanical. 3. Shape - Two general category of shapes - geometric (circles, squares, triangles) & organic (Irregular). 4. Form - A three-dimensional area is called a form. When form encloses space, the space is called volume. - With two-dimensional media, such as painting, illustration or drawing, form must be implied. 5. Texture:  - All surfaces have textures that can be experienced by touching or through visual suggestion. - Two categories of texture - actual (experienced by touch) & simulated or imp...
