Project 1 & 2
Instruction:
- Choose 1 infographic poster reference from Internet (Please consult before proceed)
- Redesign the poster into A4 size. Sketch the idea and process
- Redesign and simplify the poster based on visual hierarchy & typography
- Simplify the poster's design based on color, shape & pattern
- Attach your final poster on E-Portfolio with explanation and reflective writing
After selecting the poster, I compile the information I want to include in my A4-sized poster. Then, I use Adobe Illustrator to arrange the layout and design of my poster.
I have two ideas for the layout.
After receiving Mr. Shamsul's feedback, I decided to make my poster horizontal to better emphasize Bruno Mars as the focal point. This layout allows me to create a more balanced composition, giving more space for visuals and text without making the design feel cluttered. By adjusting the orientation, I can highlight key elements such as his achievements, discography, and records in a more engaging and visually appealing way.
Instruction:
- Animate your infographic poster into one static loop animation page
- Loop duration in between 15-30 second
- Size: 1080 x 1920 px (Vertical Video) upload to your own Youtube channel
Feedback
Week 3 / Project 1
I initially chose two topics: The Weeknd and Bruno Mars. After receiving feedback from Mr. Shamsul, I decided to go with Bruno Mars because his career offers more content to include in the poster, such as achievements, records, and discography.
Week 4 / Project 1
The background appears a bit messy, and the focal point is not strong enough. It is recommended to incorporate more iconic elements related to Bruno Mars and enhance the visual appeal by making the design more vivid and engaging. This could involve using bolder colors, dynamic compositions, or recognizable symbols associated with his music and style.
Week 5 / Project 2
Reflection
This project has been a valuable learning experience, particularly in enhancing my ability to organize information in a way that is both creative and informative. I conducted extensive research on how professional designers structure their poster layouts, which helped guide my direction. However, the most challenging part was applying those references effectively to my own design. I often struggled with content placement and layout, realizing that understanding a good example isn’t the same as executing it well.
Mr. Shamsul’s feedback played a key role in helping me refine my work. His suggestions pushed me to think more critically about hierarchy, composition, and visual flow, which significantly improved the overall design of my poster.
The animation component was an even greater challenge for me, as I have limited experience with Adobe After Effects. Thankfully, having a clear concept for my looping poster gave me a solid starting point. I leaned heavily on YouTube tutorials to learn the tools and techniques needed to bring the animation to life.
Overall, I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. While I’m satisfied with the final result, I also recognize that there’s still room to grow—especially in motion design and layout refinement. This project has motivated me to keep exploring and improving both my technical and conceptual design skills.
