INSTRUCTION

Timeframe: Week 01 - Week 07

Project 2

Instruction

Based on the FLIP group’s topic research, produce a basic video animation that presents an infographic report to a target audience with the purpose of:

  • Creating Awareness – Example: Global Warming, Recycling, Sustainability.
  • Explaining a Process – Example: "How to Reduce Plastic Waste," "How to Sort Recyclables."
  • Defining a Concept – Example: "What is Fast Fashion?", "What is the Color Wheel?"

Video must use time-based media and software that incorporates photography, vector imagery, and animation to communicate the information effectively.

Design Considerations

Your animation must follow key design principles:

  • Organization Principles – Apply LATCH (Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, Hierarchy) for structured content.
  • Aesthetic Principles – Implement basic animation principles for smooth motion and transitions.
  • Cognitive Principles – Utilize visualization techniques to enhance audience understanding.

Output Expectations

Your video should meet the following presentation standards:

  • Show Causality – Ensure logical flow and cause-effect relationships.
  • Use Multivariate Graphics & Visuals – Incorporate various types of images, icons, and charts.
  • Integrate Words, Numbers & Images – Balance text, statistics, and visuals for clarity.
  • Content Count – Keep information concise and relevant.
  • Maintain Visibility – Ensure key information is clear and readable.
  • Use Multiple Charts & Graphics – Avoid overloading text; let visuals convey meaning.
  • Do Not De-Quantify – Maintain accurate numerical data where relevant.

Requirements
  • Video Resolution1920px × 1080px (HD)
  • Duration – Minimum 1.5 minutes, Maximum 3 minutes
  • Media Usage – Photography, vector imagery, and animation
  • Software – Any appropriate video or animation tool (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Canva, or equivalent)

PROGRESS

Topic
We finish our grouping for the first class and discuss on our topic.
We came up with a few topic:
  • FAST FASHION
  • COLOURBLIND CATEGORIES
  • HOW INSONSISTENT SLEEP
  • HOW INCONSISTENT SLEEP PATTERNS AFFECT TIME MANAGEMENT
  • HOW TO ABOID AEDES MOSQUITOES
After discussing, we decided to use "color blindness" as our main theme since many websites are not friendly to colorblind users, and we wanted to raise awareness about this issue.

Storyboard / Idea Planning (Jiayi Sherwei Chloe)

Three of us discuss on how should we present our topic.and we came out with a storyboard

My part was working on the illustrations, so I collaborated with the illustration team and we divided the tasks. I was responsible for the final scene, which is the conclusion.

Progress of illustration

Once the illustrations were completed, we uploaded them to Google Drive..

For Week 6’s tutorial class, Mr. Shamsul advised us to prioritize the voiceover first, as it would be difficult to match the transitions with the speed of the voiceover later on. He suggested that starting with the voiceover will make it easier to align the transitions and visuals accordingly.

After finishing the illustrations, the animation team began their work and uploaded the voiceover to the drive.

Final outcome

Feedback
It's an engaging topic, and I really love the vibrant colors and lively feel! Just a suggestion—make sure to do the voiceover first so that the transitions in the video can be better aligned during the editing process.

Reflection
For our final project, my group worked together in a sizable team of almost ten people, which initially made me nervous. I had concerns about potential challenges, especially because I had struggled with group work of this size in a previous semester. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went. Each person took responsibility for their tasks, made steady progress, and worked independently. Our group leader was particularly impressive, offering clear directions and valuable suggestions to improve both the slides and the video, which I really appreciated.

I was responsible for providing the voiceover for the video. While it took a few attempts to get it right, I genuinely enjoyed the process. I wasn't initially happy with how my voice sounded, so I re-recorded several times. This gave me the opportunity to reflect on the script and make small changes to better match the visuals. In the end, it was a fulfilling experience, and I’m proud of how well our team worked together to complete the project.
